These Austin homeowners called looking for a vapor barrier and insulation for their crawl space. Our System Design Specialist, John T., inspected the crawl space and together, they decided on our dimpled Drainage Matting, SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, and SilverGlo Insulation Panels. The whole home will stay drier and healthier, thanks to CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas!
CleanSpace liner is a white/blue seven-layer reinforced laminate containing no adhesives. The outer layer consists of high strength polyurethane film manufactured using virgin grade resins and containing UVI and thermal stabilizers. CleanSpace is reinforced laid in a diagonal pattern spaced 3/8" apart with an additional machine direction polyester every 3" across the width. The individual plies are laminated together with molten polyethylene.
We also used our Smart Jacks for this job. The Smart Jack- is a supplemental support system for crawl space applications. The Smart Jacks effectively supports sagging beams and floor joist caused by:
length of span greater than spanning capability of the members
Floor load added after construction, exceeding design values
Weakening of members over time due to high moisture and rot
Mold spores, the seeds of mold, are in the air everywhere. All they need to grow is organic material such as wood, the right temperature range, and moisture. Of these, the only one that can be controlled is the moisture. Dirt crawl spaces have high humidity levels necessary for mold growth. Humidity levels from 50-90% are easily found in dirt crawl spaces that have never flooded. Our CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system completely isolates your home from the earth, this will dramatically reduce the humidity levels.
The dimples in the drainage matting allow better conductivity for water to get to the perimeter drainage or sump pump located in the lowest spot of the crawlspace.
Mold can grow on dirt, insulation, framing, and even under your carpet on the first floor. Mold destroys organic materials as it feeds on them. Mold reproduces by producing millions of floating airborne spores, which some people are very sensitive to. Spores can be dormant for many years, waiting for the right conditions to grow. Some molds produce mycotoxins, such as the black mold Stachybotrys.
