Belleville Crawl Space Repair

Challenge

A homeowner in Belleville contacted us through our website to get help for his crawl space. He wanted the mold, moisture, and rot out of his crawl space so his home would be healthier, drier, and more structurally sound. Our Design Specialist, Jack, went out to visit with him and inspect the crawl space. He found this crawl space would benefit from a full encapsulation with a SmartSump Sump Pump, resupported floor joists, and the EverLast Door.

Solution

Jason, Brace, and their team started by removing debris from the crawl space. The SmartSump Sump Pump was then installed in the lowest point of the crawl space, and the crawl space floor was graded to direct ground water towards the SmartSump. They reinforced the floor joists by sistering them with additional beams and replaced the rim joists that had rotted away. The team measured and custom cut the EverLast Door onsite to replace the old wood door. The EverLast Door is made to handle to damp and dirty conditions at the crawl space entry. Piers were wrapped with Wallie to prevent condensation from the porous concrete piers, and vents were sealed with SilverGlo Vent Seals to prevent outside air from entering the crawl space. The dimpled Drainage Matting was installed on the dirt floor, and the CleanSpace Liner was installed to permanently isolate the home from the earth. A SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was installed to remove humidity from the air at a rate of up to 100 pints per day, moving 300 cubic feet of dry air around the crawl space every minute.
