Little Rock Crawl Space Vapor Barrier
Challenge
A homeowner in Little Rock called with concerns about sagging floors in his rental property. Our Design Specialist, Michael, inspected the property and found the support structures of the home were weakened due to moisture, causing the floors to sag. After visiting with the homeowner, Michael designed a solution to eliminate the source of the moisture and keep the area drier.
Solution
Our installation crew, led by Stephen, removed debris; then graded and prepped the crawl space. This process includes evening out the dirt floor to prevent water from pooling in any one area. The crawl space walls were insulated with our SilverGlo Insulation Panels. These insulation panels are infused with graphite to increase the R value and prevent outside air from entering the crawl space. The EverLast Door was custom cut on site to ensure a secure fit. The EverLast Door is made of polypropylene plastic, meaning it will not rot or rust, it is waterproof, and resistant to mold growth. The crew installed new floor joists and installed our SmartJacks to provide additional support to the home. SmartJacks are adjustable supports for the floor joists to restore the sagging floors. The crew then installed our dimpled Drainage Matting, providing a thermal break between the home and the earth, and installing the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This pint-sized powerhouse can remove up to 100 pints of moisture from the air per day while moving up to 300 cubic feet of dry air around the crawl space per minute, keeping the crawl space drier.
The homeowners are pleased with the results, and we were pleased to make another Arkansas home cleaner, drier, healthier, and more structurally sound. Call 501.329.4000!
