Ft. Smith Crawl Space Moisture Solutions
Challenge
When these homeowners were ready to purchase a new HVAC unit, they wanted to move it into their crawl space. They went in to investigate where to put it and found lots of moisture and standing water. They were very worried about how the moisture would affect their home, so they called the All Things Crawl Space-y guy!
Solution
Curtis inspected the crawl space and recommended a complete encapsulation, including the SmartSump with UltraSump, and the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier.
Justin and his crew began treating mold with our Mold-X2 Cleaner. This cleaner kills mold growing on the support structures of the home. The SmartSump Sump Pump with UltraSump was installed in the lowest point of the crawl space. The SmartSump features the WaterWatch Alarm, alerting the homeowner to plumbing leaks. The UltraSump with Battery Backup will automatically turn on in the event the power goes out or the primary pump cannot keep up. A discharge line is run from the SmartSump, out of the crawl space to safely drain into the lawn. They then began grading and prepping the dirt floor of the crawl space. Evening out the dirt floor ensures ground water will flow towards the SmartSump.
The crew then removed debris, sealed the rim joists and vents with SilverGlo Vent Seals, and insulated the walls with SilverGlo Insulation Panels. These panels are infused with graphite to increase the insulation factor by 24% over other panels. The masonry piers were wrapped with Wallie, our 12-mil thick liner designed to prevent moisture from entering the crawl space through the porous concrete. Dimpled Drainage Matting was installed throughout the crawl space to provide a thermal break. The dimples allow any water to flow beneath it to the SmartSump Sump Pump, keeping water away from the CleanSpace Liner. The CleanSpace Liner was secured above the Drainage Matting, isolating the home from the earth completely and permanently. The SaniDry Sedona was set to keep humidity below 60%, moving 300 cubic feet of dry air around the crawl space every minute.
These homeowners are thrilled with the results and love their cleaner, healthier, and more structurally sound crawl space and home! Call 501.329.4000 today!
