Maumelle Crawl Space Insulation

Challenge

These homeowners were concerned with the cold floors in their home. The cold floors were making the rest of the home cold and causing their heating bills to escalate. They called CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas and one of our Design Specialists, Michael, came out to visit with them and inspect their crawl space. He found the insulation in the floor joists had fallen, and the vents in the crawl space were allowing cold air to enter the home. The solution was to insulate the crawl space and seal the vents.

Solution

Justin and his crew started by grading and prepping the crawl space. This ensures there are no points at which water can pool or puddle. They installed our SilverGlo Insulation Panels on the walls of the crawl space to insulate against outside air. SilverGlo Insulation Panels are infused with graphite, increasing their insulation value by 24% over other foam boards. They also used SilverGlo to seal the rim joists of the home, further protecting the home from outside air. The piers were wrapped with Wallie, our 12-mil thick liner to prevent cold air and condensation from entering the crawl space through the masonry. Justin's team then laid the dimpled Drainage Matting as a thermal layer between the home and the earth, securing it to the walls and the ground to prevent moisture and outside air from entering the crawl space. Finally, the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier was brought in and set to keep humidity around 55%.
