Crawl Space Repair Contractor in Ashdown
Challenge
A representative from a building on the National Register of Historic Places contacted CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas because they were having some trouble with water in the crawl space. The building was well over 100 years old, and they wanted to dry it out, clean it up, and correct problems the moisture had caused before it damaged the building any further. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Jack, out to meet with him and inspect the crawl space.
Solution
Jack designed a solution to repair the crawl space and dry it out, and after meeting with engineers, he got the approval to get the job started.
Our crews started by grading and prepping the crawl space, removing debris and spray foam insulation from the brick walls. Mold was treated with our Mold-X2, a cleaner that kills and removes mold. The crew then installed three TripleSafe Sump Pumps at the lowest points of the crawl space. Each TripleSafe was installed with two drainage lines to carry water out of the crawl space. These drain lines went through our IceGuard, which allows water to escape should the drain line be frozen or stopped up further down, preventing water from backing up into the crawl space. After IceGuard, the drainage line continues and expels the water away from the building through our LawnScape Outlet.
Metal Beams and SmartJacks were installed, and floor joists were sistered or replaced to support the building. This gave the building the additional support it needed. Vent Seals were installed to prevent outside air from entering the crawl space, and the entrances to the crawl space were secured with our Metal Hinged and Lockable Doors. The masonry piers were wrapped with Wallie, and dimpled Drainage Matting was installed on the graded surface to allow ground water to flow towards the sump pumps. Our CleanSpace Liner was the next step, secured to the walls and floor of the crawl space, permanently and completely isolating the building from the earth. The final step was the addition of three of our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifiers, each pulling up to 100 pints of moisture out of the air per day and moving 300 cubic feet of dry air around the crawl space. This helps dry out the support structures of the crawl space, making the building more structurally sound. The humidity is kept below 60% so mold and rot cannot set in.
