Challenge

This homeowner in Russellville had been fighting the battle with moisture and mold in his crawl space for years and decided to call in reinforcements. When our Design Specialist, John, inspected the crawl space, he found moisture, mold, and rot. Rot sets in when the wood moisture content is above 20%, and this jeopardizes the structural integrity of the home.

Solution

Jordan and his crew started by sistering the floor joists by adding additional supports on either side of the rotting beams. Meatal beams were added to give the home the support it was lacking. These metal beams were supported by our SmartJacks. SmartJacks are installed on a concrete footer and are adjustable to allow for temperature changes and settling. With the supports in place, they custom cut the EverLast Door to replace the rotting wooden door to the crawl space and installed SilverGlo Vent Seals to block damp outside air from entering the crawl space. 

The crew then began grading the crawl space for the Drainage Matting. This allows ground water to flow beneath the Drainage Matting towards the perimeter of the home. The CleanSpace Liner was laid above, it's bright white finish reflecting how clean the space is while isolating the home from the earth completely and permanently. The energy star rated SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier removes moisture from the air at a rate of up to 100 pints per day, moving 300 cubic feet of dry air through the crawl space. This will help dry out the support structures of the home while keeping the air cleaner.
