Sherwood Vapor Barrier Installation

Challenge

When this Sherwood homeowner called CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas about encapsulating her crawl space, we scheduled her appointment with one of our Design Specialists. He inspected the crawl space and visited with her about her concerns.  After discussing the solution with her, she made the decision to protect her home.

Solution

This crawl space was very wet, so our crew installed the SmartSump Sump Pump in the lowest point of the crawl space. The SmartSump is designed just for crawl spaces. The liner and lid form a tight seal around the CleanSpace Liner, and the lid features a reliable 1/3 horsepower Zoeller pump, an airtight floor drain and a WaterWatch Alarm in case of plumbing leaks. 

Around the perimeter of the crawl space, our crews dug a trench below the footers to install the Ez Flow Drainage System. This Drainage System flows directly into the SmartSump, allowing groundwater run-off to be removed from the crawl space. Outside, the SmartSump is drained through IceGuard and out away from the home through our LawnScape Outlet. IceGuard allows water to escape should the outside drain line become blocked or frozen. The LawnScape Outlet blends in with your lawn allowing water to drain away from your house and keeping your lawn beautiful. 

Back in the crawl space, our crews removed debris and graded the dirt floor to facilitate drainage towards the perimeter of the home. Vents were sealed with SilverGlo Vent Seals, insulating the crawl space against outside air. Piers were wrapped with Wallie, our 12-mil thick liner designed for masonry, and Drainage Matting was installed to provide a thermal break, puncture resistance, and durability. The CleanSpace Liner was installed above the Drainage Matting, isolating the home from the earth and providing a bright white finish to the crawl space. It was secured to the walls and the ground to ensure no bunching, and it's 7-layer polyethylene blend makes it tear and hole resistant. The final step was to install the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier. This energy star rated dehumidifier will move up to 300 cubic feet of dry air per minute, removing up to 100 pints of water per day. It drains directly into the SmartSump, so all moisture is removed from this crawl space.
