Flooded Crawl Space in Rogers Arkansas
Challenge
This customer called us explaining that any time there was a hard rain their crawl space would flood. This is a major issue because standing water in a crawl space can cause other problems that can affect the health of the homeowners.
Standing water in the crawl space evaporates and raises the overall humidity in the crawl space. A high humidity in the crawl space leads to many problems, wood rot, mold, and mildew. This can also raise the humidity inside the home. This high humidity can not only just make the home uncomfortable, but can invite mold and dust mites into the home. This can cause illnesses. Standing water in the crawl space can be very bad for the homeowners especially when it is all over the crawlspace.
Solution
To solve the problem our crew started by grading to ground to even out the dirt so there was nowhere for the water to puddle up. They also installed drainage matting, this keeps the water trapped underneath it and the dimples in it gives the water a channel to leave the crawl space. They had to install drainage matting all over the crawl space because the flooding was so wide spread. To get the water out of the crawl space the crew had to install two SmartSumps. The SmartSump is specifically designed for crawl spaces, they lower moisture and remove the water.
The crew also installed EZ flow drainage around the walls, so if any water come in from the walls it does not get to the floor it goes straight to the drain to leave the crawl space. They also installed ice guard at the end of the discharge lines, so when it gets below freezing the water can still pump out of the crawl space. This customer is now enjoying a water free crawl space.
