Wet Basement in Russellville, AR
Challenge
This customer called us explaining that they had standing water in their basement. The water was ruining the wood floors and the carpet that was in the basement. The customer at first was just interested in a drain system. Upon inspection, they found that the problem was much worse than the customer thought. The water was coming in through the walls and just installing a drain was not going to solve the problem.
This customer needed more than just a drain because the water needed some assistance to get out of the basement. If we had not worked on this basement when we did, this problem could have become much worse. The standing water in the basement could have caused mold to grow, either under the floors in the walls and other places in the basement. This customer wanted to be able to use this basement to entertain guests and for storage.
Solution
To solve the problems for this customer, we installed two SmartSumps in the basement to pump the water out of the basement. They have a special drain that water goes down, and there is no chance that the damp air will affect the rest of the basement. We had to install two of them, because the area of the basement was so large one pump was not enough to keep the basement as dry as it should be.
We also installed two UltraSumps. These work with the SmartSumps, they work as a battery backup. They ensure that even in the event of a power outage, for any reason, the water will continue to be pumped out of the basement. The crew also installed an IceGuard, this ensures that even in freezing temperatures the water is able to escape the basement. The IceGuard also protects from anything trying to get into the pipe that the water comes out of. The crew also installed EZ Flow drainage. This is used to make sure that the water gets out of the basement and there is nowhere for it to leak out. We also installed a dehumidifier to stop the growth of any mold and to lower the moisture of the basement.
