Challenge

Arkadelphia homeowner noticed moisture in his crawl space and chose to call CrawlSpace Solutions of Arkansas! Our team found the moisture was causing mold growth and those mold spores can grow and spread into the home.

Solution

The first step is to treat the crawl space with Mold-x2. This solution removes mold and prevents it from returning. Our team then installed the SmartSump Sump Pump and UltraSump with battery back-up in the lowest point of the crawl space. The UltraSump charges while not in use and goes into action when there is a power failure. Next, dug a trench around the walls of the crawl space and installed the Ez Flow Drainage System to collect ground water and drain it into the SmartSump. The SmartSump was discharged to outside the home through IceGuard, a patented drain piece that allows water to escape should the drain line become clogged further down. The LawnScape Outlet at the end of the discharge line blends into the lawn and allows water to drain safely away from the home. 

Inside the crawl space, the team prepped and graded the space to direct surface ground water towards Ez Flow and the SmartSump to be pumped away from the home. The piers were wrapped with Wallie to prevent condensation on the porous concrete, and the vents were sealed with SilverGlo Vent Seals. SilverGlo Insulation Panels were added to the walls, the graphite infused panels have an increased r value of 24% over standard insulation panels, and the reflective backing keeps the crawl space warmer, which saves helps save on heating and cooling costs. The dimpled Drainage Matting provides durability and a thermal break, and the CleanSpace Liner was installed above it, isolating the home from the earth, completely and permanently. The addition of the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier removes moisture from the air at up to 100 pints per day, while moving 300 cubic feet of dry air around the crawl space every minute.
