Little Rock Vapor Barrier Installation
Challenge
This home in Little Rock had a vapor barrier down, but the homeowners called because they noticed the insulation in the floor joists had fallen down. Most floor joists are insulated with the same insulation used in the walls of the home. When exposed to moisture, that insulation becomes a breeding ground for mold and will fall out of the floor joists. They wanted someone to come out to give them some options to seal up their crawl space to prevent cold air from coming into their home.
Solution
Our Design Specialist, John T., visited with them and completed his inspection. When he gave them the solution to their crawl space problems, they wanted to encapsulate their crawl space with our CleanSpace Encapsulation System!
Our crews began by grading and prepping the crawl space, then installing Vent Seals to prevent outside air from entering the crawl space, keeping humid air out. They wrapped the piers with Wallie, a 12-mil thick liner to prevent moisture from entering the space through the masonry blocks and installed our dimpled Drainage Matting. This Matting allows water to flow beneath it, not allowing it to pool or puddle in the crawl space. The 20-mil thick CleanSpace Liner is secured to the walls and floor of the crawl space, isolating the home from the earth completely and permanently. The bright white finish of the liner allows the homeowner to see the crawl space is free of mold and moisture. Finally, our crew installed the SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to keep the humidity below 55%, completing this encapsulation!
