SmartSump Installation in Pine Bluff
Challenge
Homeowners in Pine Bluff reached out to us with concerns about standing water in their crawl space. They needed to get the water out of their crawl space and away from their home.
Solution
Our Design Specialist, Craigen, arrived to speak with the owners and inspect the crawl space. He found a very wet area under the home. The crawl space was taking on humidity and excessive ground water.
The homeowners agreed with his recommendations and Bryan and his installation crew went to work to get this crawl space dried out.
Since your crawl space is part of your home, keeping it dry is the first step to creating a healthier home. A sump pump is the best way to remove ground water from the crawl space. Our state-of-the-art SmartSump Sump Pump is designed just for crawl spaces. The lowest point in the crawl space had been marked by Craigen during the inspection, so Bryan and his crew dug a hole large enough to fit the SmartSump liner. They filled the area around the liner with clean stone, allowing ground water to come in and keep dirt out. The pump sits inside the liner on a stand to keep it free from any sediment and foreign items, and the air-tight lid is then bolted into place. An EZ Flow Drainage Pipe feeds excess water from the graded crawl space into the SmartSump.
A WaterWatch alarm system is inserted in the lid. This alarm will sound if water runs over the top of the lid, alerting the homeowner to possible plumbing leaks or power outages. The installation crew ran a drainage line from the SmartSump to outside and away from the home.
The homeowners knew they needed to eliminate the ground water from their crawl space. The sump pump plays an important role in the effective drainage and encapsulation of a crawl space. It removes the water that would otherwise cause mold, mildew, and rot and pumps it away from your home.
